When your hand or debris is within ten inches and a 130° angle from the infrared sensor, the lid automatically opens. It will remain open as long as the debris or hand remains within the sensor's range. After three seconds of your hand moving away from the lid, it closes automatically, conserving power that lasts up to 6 months in normal daily use with three D-size batteries (not included). Additionally, the trashcan includes a garbage bag ring to provide a neat and clean appearance by keeping the bag hidden from public view.

To ensure optimal performance, please ensure the batteries are inserted with the correct positive and negative directions, and that the power button located on the side of the lid is turned on after battery insertion. Moreover, make sure the lid is securely pushed down onto the base of the trashcan.
