The sensor detects and automatically opens and closes the lid of the trash can. With a double opening feature, this trash can is ideal for use in spaces with low ceilings. The opening and closing mechanism operates quietly, so it won't disturb children or pets. By placing your hands, shoulders, or objects within 7.9 inches (20 cm) of the sensor, the lid will open and close automatically. A LED display indicates when the lid is closed for about 5 seconds. The digital panel can be operated manually with touch buttons on both sides.

The operating sound is between 40 dB and 50 dB, similar to the quietness of a library. The lid is designed with a sturdy construction to conceal the trash bag inside (inner box not included). It requires 4 AA alkaline batteries (sold separately). EKO's innovative spring and hinge system is motor-controlled with a magnetic reset system that monitors the opening and closing via a magnetic sensor. This system ensures a long battery life and resistance to failures, eliminating the need for multiple gears and motors.

The double opening feature allows for installation in areas with limited height. A blue LED indicator shows the remaining time before closing, and there are touch buttons on both sides of the digital panel. The sensor only activates when a hand is within palm's height. To replace the garbage bag, simply remove the lid and attach the inner ring. The body of the trash can is made of easy-to-clean plastic.
